I was hit by a car as a pedestrian crossing the cross walk in Harlem on west 125th while the car that was at a stop for the light decided to gun it and by surprise hit me even though I was in clear sight. After reading reviews and Carmen coming to my area of the neighborhood since I was in pain from the accident I chose their law services to work with as a personal injury attorney. This whole process was something I had to learn. Corporate law firms in NYC won’t give you individualized attention. It can be a confusing one, but with Stefanie and Carmen’s help it was a guided and supported experience. Their team dedicated work effort is unmatched by any other law firm in NYC. Sure you may think initially let me choose a huge law firm. But those may not give you the personal attention that Stefanie and Carmen may provide. At a large law firm they won’t dedicate their full attention to your case. Stephanie would always email me any hour of the day or night and take her time to re-explain things in great detailed depth if I didn’t understand them the first time. I got hit in July 2019 and settled without a court case and just with the adjuster in November 2020. This is a process that takes time and Stefanie and Carmen did everything they could to make it as smooth and fast as possible.As a prospective client it may good to call other law firms and not just ask about retainer fee (33%), but also the other kinds of fees such as medical records, office expenses, and DMV record searches. If you can try to get your own medical records that may help reduce the cost. But large law firms may charge you an unfair standardize fee. Stefanie and Carmen charge for the expenses that are fair to your case, instead of a standard fee like other large corporate law firms may. I did not know this going into the process that is advice I would give to prospective clients. Also be organized get every record you can and file them, also make sure to not get any liens. You can prevent this by making sure in advance that the insurance company is paying your medical bills throughout the process. Carmen and Stefanie are good lawyers that don’t pressure their clients into unnecessary treatments, like harmful injections, just to settle for an increased amount. Please be aware of any lawyer that does make you do that. It is common and can cause more long term pain. Carmen and Stefanie want to see their clients thrive medically and naturally, while still receiving a fair settlement amount that the client is deserving of and they treat their clients with the upmost respect as personal injury can be an emotional tolling process as well.
