A year ago I was a victim of a crime. My experience with prosecutor Anna-Lisa Riley was horrible and unprofessional. She tried to persuade me to drop the charges because she couldn’t understand why I waited a day to get police involve and she tried to scare me from going to trial. I didn’t understand why she was on the side of the perpetrator when he literally harmed me? She made the experience uncomfortable and I feel so bad for anyone who has had a horrible experience with her. Eventually I gave up on the case because I didn’t want to deal with her and the case anymore and decided to take care of myself. They eventually switched over the case to attorney Screws and she was way more professional and supportive. This was a horrifying experience for me but mentally I wanted to move on from this.

Positive: ProfessionalismMr. Scott LaPeer was receptive and responsive to my case. I appreciate that he was willing to look at me as a person rather than just another file on his desk. Because of his humanism and professionalism, I was treated with dignity and able to work through my legal issue.

This place is terrible. Will not return phone calls. I have had to call Erin Clark reference restitution order per judge several times. And she always tells me the same thing oh I’ll know more next week ill call you back. But she never does.

Critical: Professionalism, QualityOne of the most corrupt counties in Florida I have had the “not pleasure” of dealing with. Just another example of a completely broken justice system. Where they persecute based of gaining funds, instead of morality, and right and wrong.

They’re accommodating in ways but seemed like a waste of my time since nothing came out of the visit.

I have to say, I tried to contact this office per a couple police officers, that had given me direction to do so. The ladies that answer the phones there were so rude to me that I was in tears all three times. I can not begin to tell you how rude they were to me. Fortunately, I had been involved with the state attorney that was assigned to me, from a previous experience. I was able to contact her directly through a lot of research on my own. She is an amazing human being, with feelings for others, and has been a tremendous help to me and my family! I wish the rest of the office treated people as human beings, with respect and kindness. There is no reason to be ugly to anyone. Ever. Everyone makes mistakes. That does not mean they deserve to be treated with abuse. Thank you Jamie Whiteway. You are amazing! You deserve to be recognized for who you are and what you believe. Thank you for your respect and kindness to me and my family. God Bless You!!

Building was not very well kept (floors, walls, chairs). I showed up early to be in the waiting room on time, and they honestly just left me waiting with no word or update, so I just had to sit there.

It’s easy to get online and rip on any government agency. Many people write poor reviews because they don’t understand the complexity of government and the guidelines they have to work by. That being said, I found that this state attorney’s office was professional and did their job within the constraints of the law. There will always be a massive back-log of cases; however, that should never be blamed on the state and they often do the very best they can with the manpower and resources they have available to triage the flooded criminal justice system.
