The Mediation Group helps people and organizations resolve current and future conflicts in constructive ways — saving them resources, time and stress. To do this, our team of attorneys, retired judges, mental health professionals, researchers and experts in organizational development combine methods across disciplines. Sometimes we serve as neutral mediators, helping find a solution everyone can live with. Other times we serve as arbitrators, where we listen to all sides and make a ruling that is binding. Other times we facilitate a difficult meeting, or equip an organization with the tools to navigate conflicts better in the future.

Conflict Coaching
Conflict coaching is a one-on-one process that develops the client’s skill at handling conflict, or supports the client in working through a particularly difficult or complex conflict.
Conflict Competency and Leadership in Diverse Organizations Training
Research has shown that high functioning, diverse work teams are more creative, better at problem solving and more productive than homogeneous teams. However, if unresolved conflict is making team members run for the exit, all of that benefit is lost. Whether you are a manager, a union leader, or the head of the department, the ability to competently lead in a diverse organization is critical to success.
Dispute System Assessment
We begin by understanding the nature of the problem. Are there identifiable moments in the year when conflict seems to get out of hand? When budgets are determined, for example, or when bonuses and raises are allocated, or when leadership is in transition? The tension in these moments is inevitable, but that tension can be part of a learning phase for the organization or it can be a cause of disruption and damaged relationships.

Dispute system design is creating a process for resolving current and future conflicts in an organization.
Family Disputes
Understanding that disputes arising within the context of a family are often both legally and emotionally complex, The Mediation Group has developed a cross-disciplinary approach, providing co-mediators who combine legal and mental health skills to address family conflict.
Legal Disputes
TMG has extensive experience mediating a range of civil disputes. Parties may choose to bring their dispute to mediation instead of pursuing resolution through the courts at any point in the litigation process. Mediation offers many advantages over litigation.
Meeting Facilitation
For some of our clients, having The Mediation Group facilitate their meeting or retreat is a one-time event. For these engagements, an outside, neutral facilitator is better equipped to design a productive meeting, keep the conversation on track, enable the participation of all members, clarify decisions, solidify action plans, and address unresolved conflict.
Organizational Development
For other clients, facilitation is part of a larger intervention. For example, our organizational development work such as developing a strategic vision or revamping a performance management approach involves a great deal of work conducted through facilitation.
Organizational Disputes
Mediation is one of many processes that can be an effective tool in addressing conflicts within organizations. While often there are complex, systemic issues in play, sometimes discrete, interpersonal disputes can be resolved through mediation either independently or as a part of a deeper effort to address broader institutional concerns.
Partnering
Partnering is the process of anticipating challenges in multi-stakeholder processes and developing strategies and protocols for resolving them before they arise.
Public Engagement
Effectively engaging the public in a deliberative dialogue on important community matters is no small task. The groups are often large, the issues are critical and groups have polarized into opposing camps.
Workplace and Title IX Investigations
Allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination or other unlawful conduct in the work or learning place are serious and increasingly prevalent. Both to manage exposure to potential liability and to demonstrate a commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment, employers and administrators must be able to respond swiftly and competently when facing such claims.
