Mr. Barnes was our (David & Amy) foster daughter’s GAL. Over ten months, he visited our home and the child one time, and saw that she was thriving in a safe, loving environment. Without even consulting me, months after the one visit, Mr. Barnes stood in court and sided with the birth mother, who wanted her child put into another foster home due to several claims such as that her child was too attached to us (that will happen with ten months for a one-year old), that she called me Mommy (she called her birth mother Mommy too, and that’s what foster moms have one-year-olds call them), that she had gotten several scrapes and a miniscule chipped tooth (kids who play outside rather than sit in front of a TV will have some scrapes; none of these even required a doctor visit–though I took her to an emergency dentist over the chip, and they told me she fine and I shouldn’t have even brought her in) that I didn’t communicate with her over our vacation (a flat out lie! I have screenshots to show that I sent 8 pictures with commentary! I even let her talk to her child on the phone when she called!) Did Mr. Barnes bother to ask me about this? No! He took the birthmother’s word. Now, this one-year-old doesn’t understand why she was ripped from her loving family and brought to a strange home. I have never been so upset about an injustice done to a child.
