Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueAs a court-appointed attorney for a mother involved with Child Protection Services (CPS), Amanda Morris had no knowledge of civil rights of a parent or a person with disability. She could have spoken with an attorney through Disability Rights Ohio, but she refused. She also told me that attorney’s don’t participate in family meeting with CPS. I told her she does do that. She was present via zoom eating her lunch at the meeting. When I asked her to file a motion, she told me no, because she thought it was frivolous. It wasn’t. To communicate your wished to the Magistrate/Judge you have to do it via motions. The worst part of my experience with her is that she intentionally failed to inform me of the time to file an appeal of magistrate deposition that took custody away from me. If I hadn’t of asked her, she would have never told me. When she told me that it was past the deadline to appeal, I said you just screwed me. She said: “I know”. If you have issues with her, please contact the Ohio Disciplinary Council. I did. They responded that another grievance will persuade them to have little leniency. As a court-appointed attorney for a mother involved with Child Protection Services (CPS), Amanda Morris had no knowledge of civil rights of a parent or a person with disability.
