Per Bob Turner: I started at Western Sierra in 1996, graduated in 2000, passed the California Bar that summer, and then the Patent Attorney Bar Exam. I had been accepted to an ABA accredited law school, but even with a scholarship the cost for attendance was out of the question. Western Sierra gave me the opportunity to become a licensed lawyer at less than a quarter of the going rate for private ABA schools. I put that to use starting in 2003, teaching at Western Sierra. I have done a lot of things in my short life, but few measure up to the satisfaction of partially mastering the tools of law. I highly recommend Western Sierra for students who are established in a career and wishing to add to their knowledge base. The structure of a law school practically guarantees a quantum jump in capabilities for dealing with modern society, whether or not being an attorney full time is the goal.

Western Sierra Law School is the most affordable law school in southern California. The law school was located in San Diego when I attended, but now its located in north county, near Temecula, Murrieta and Riverside but still in the San Diego region. I found the study of law very interesting, especially constitutional law. I really liked the faculty and administration. I feel that Western Sierra Law School gave me an opportunity to learn the law, whereas I would not have been able to study at one of the competitive law school b/c I worked full time to pay the bills. You have to take an extra exam called the “baby bar exam”, but its all good. Honestly, I don’t know why anyone would pay $150K+ at the other competitive school when you can become a lawyer with a JD from Western Sierra for prob $40K ish.Overall, I give this school 5 stars because of the value the school offers in terms of debt/salary ratio, meaning the debt a student acquires vs. the expected salary after graduation. I think the school is great.

Third year law student at Western Sierra and I can honestly say that the new Dean and assistant Dean have completely turned this law school around for the better! They are very well organized. They take the time to set up individual meetings with students to actually get to know you better, and to keep you updated on your progress (Exam scores, class grades, and potential future courses). The transition has been great, and the new administration is beyond phenomenal.

Western Sierra Law School is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get into the practice of law, or for those in business or merely seeking a legal education, but do not have the time or ability to complete a full-time law school program. Tuition is relatively low. Graduates of WSLS earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and qualify to sit for the California Bar Exam.
