Had an experience very simjilar to several other reviewers; the lady on the phone in charge of referrals started screaming at me for no good reason. She said no one could do the kind of case I was asking her about, which is impossible. When I asked her how she could come to that conclusion, she became so belligerent I had to get off the phone.

I was appalled at the unprofessionalism of the person I spoke with on the phone today. She was short of screaming at me. Typically I would match the mood in return but I needed information so I kept my composure which seemed to make her even more heated. I didn’t catch her name but it looks like there is a theme here in the reviews.

Outstanding organization. The website provides enormous amounts of information for the legal community. The new Executive Director is terrific and is innovatively guiding the organization forward. I highly recommend that any Bergen County attorney join the BCBA.

I called to get a recommendation about retaining an attorney. I was told that the association does not monitor or know the performance of individual attorneys. When I asked how they can recommend one without knowing their performance or history of complaints, they said all their members are in good standing. When I asked what the standards are to be in good standing, I was told that was private information and they are a private organization. The woman on the phone became agitated and quite rude, but wanted me to come to the office and pay $30 to get a recommendation. Stay away!

They are listed under two different names and numbers when you search for attorney referrals.(they also come up under Lawyer Referral Services). I requested referral twice for two separate and completely different reasons and in both instances. they asked a lot of questions, specifics and then came back saying that they do not have anybody on their roster who practices this type of law. When asked, what type of law they provide referrals for – they were evasive and refused to answer. They seem to be just fishing for lucrative cases with no intent to provide actual referrals.
