A few months before summer I retained a lawyer Gabriela Bonilla who turned out to be very unprofessional & money hungry. My first red flags should have been when she disclosed she had just purchased a home & gotten married so her funds are low. Within that first month I could not speak with her because apparently she was on honeymoon/vacation, which she did not mention AT ALL prior to hiring her. Not to mention she added all these outrageous fees that really should’ve been waved because her lack of communication was terrible. In her words she was trying a new Processing Server company..Per our 1st meeting I advise her to serve the opposing party at work not home because it would be a waste of time. She didn’t listen which prolonged the situation & than tried to charge me directly for fees. I disputed that with her & thought we’d move on..It got worse, she would cancel phone calls, meetings, zoom calls. Also her “paralegal” at the time who was just graduating law school were NOT on the same page. After complaining about communication & unprofessionalism I found out a motion was never filed though we discussed that’s what was best because I did not want to waste time. But of course she didn’t listen to me being that I’m paying her monthly and she can add on more fees as time goes by. She went as far a charging me for HER & her staff calling, emailing & texting in regards of my case. I even mentioned/questioned why they continue to repeat the same updates and info. It was never them doing their due diligence bug rather them finding ways to up-charge me. In the end she showed no empathy for me wanting to be a part of my sons life. Her staff is also unethical & bias. One even advised me to continue to be manipulated & finessed by my sons mother for the sake of my son. Which clearly is unhealthy for my parenting relationship with my son. Needless to say my son was kept away from me the entire summer & still the only conclusion they had for me was “the mother request you buy him uniform shirts” in order to see him. Which turned around to be a set up just as I told them! Caring for my child is not the issue. Clearly y’all are playing a lawyers game where your pockets win & Fathers & children like mine, LOSE!

If I could rate this zero stars I would! She is the worst imaginable family lawyer & has an incompetent staff. She thrives on prolonging her cases so it can benefit her pockets and ultimately will leave you with ultimatums that gear towards her getting paid once again. Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. Save your money & find someone with ethics.
