I am a lawyer and don’t need the lousy $150 consultation, I just need a lawyer to represent me because only a fool of a lawyer represents himself. But Ken insisted I go through the consultation.

Called with questions and he was happy to help and gave great insight to fix my issue. The downside is that the office needs to get paid, and what that translated into for me, was after the initial consultation, I was expected to pay more money in order to have some questions answered. The hotline isn’t a bad idea, but the costs add up and I will end up paying more money fighting my landlord, instead of getting the issues fixed. It would be nice to have an Avenue where simple questions can be answered about the consultation that was paid. These aren’t new questions, but more so to make sure I don’t shoot myself in the foot. That help is what I expected when I paid the $150, but did not receive.

I would not recommend Ken of California Tenant Law.. he won’t hear you out just over talks you and says go check the website it’s free. So I called to ask him some questions I have never dealt with the kind of issue before. Ken was very RUDE! Sure talked a good game at first, bragged about buying tenants an extra 6 months to well over a year, but the end result was me paying thousands of dollars to him and got an extra TWO WEEKS. He wouldn’t respond to messages sometimes for days, sometimes not until late in the afternoon the day before a court hearing…which meant I had to jump through hoops at light speed to hopefully be prepared with the right knowledge and paperwork the following day. For my most important court hearing of them all, I never heard from him until the following day. Too late. The case was dismissed. And to really add insult to injury, he changed his story and said something like ‘what do I expect when I’m trying to live somewhere for free’. Are you kidding?? His whole pitch is about working the legal system to do just that! To me he’s a predator who preys on people that are extremely vulnerable, during one of, if not THE scariest times of their lives. Good luck people.

Ken was the most helpful, intelligent attorney I could have hoped for. I had no problem going to court several times against an unethical landlord. Came out on top both filings. Sued them later and got damages of several thousand dollars for the criminal activity they perpetrated against us. If you’re a POS that is screwing over your landlord, well, he can help you. But if you’re a normal, ethical person you will feel very empowered and should have no problem (though you may be terrified to represent yourself, dont) handling all phases of your case. Read his website and learn the ropes. It is just like making a cake….follow the recipe. Law proceedings are like following a recipe. He’s the Emeril of Tenant Law…Bam!!! (case dismissed)
