M. Jude Egan, J.D., Ph.D, certified family law specialist, graduated law school at the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 2004. While working at a major international law firm in San Francisco doing civil litigation and land use work, he wrote his doctoral dissertation in Jurisprudence and Social Policy. Dr. Egan has litigated numerous cases in civil litigation and family law and enjoys a growing reputation drafting legal documents for estate planning. His practice serves English and Spanish speaking clients in Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Five Cities and Santa Barbara.

Critical: Quality, ValueMy experience with this family law especially with Helen was really not professional whatsoever they will take your money and then will drop you the next second like Helen did to my case! I had Justin Arnold was my first attorney and he was wonderful but unfortunately he was nowhere to be found and he was no more in family law so My only choice I had was pretty much Egan‘s law. The other party literally called six family law offices which Egan’s office was the only one that he did not contact so that was my only best bet and she told me that law firm was the best in Santa Maria and like the airhead that I am I believed her ! We recently hired Mr. Egan to handle a family custody issue in Kern County after a couple of bad experiences with local lawyers. Honestly, meeting Jude and retaining him has been an all round great experience. He’s easy to communicate with, ethical, friendly, and his staff (Kristen) is equally as great. He actually tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear which was refreshing after having other attorneys pat you on the back with their right hand whilst their left hand is emptying your wallet. When weighing up the pros and cons of the case, he offered options which not only addressed the legal issues at hand, but he offered options which were beneficial to our quality of life which is obviously important. I sincerly hope that no one out there requires an attorney for a family law matter, but if you do, I would retain Jude in a heartbeat.

That’s when I made the move to Egan Law and was connected with Amber Simmons, who managed to get a 3 year long stale-mate resolved and settled fairly in a month! I’m so happy to finally get a chance to move forward after being hopeless a few months ago. She actually listened to me, and helped protect my rights and future!

Did not protect me or my daughter from alienation and quite simply gave up mid way into my case and let opposing counsel basically dictate the case and get to the court ordered psychologist by allowing AND AGREEING TO SKYPE visitation with my daughter while I was not charged, convicted, or found guilty of any crime and was following orders to a T. His staff in incompetent, his paralegal often did more work than him and his pleadings were akin to a high school student writing a report the night before the assignment was due. Oh, and I should mention he disappeared on me for 2 months until I had to fire him for lack of representation as he flat out skipped my hearing and still wanted to charge me. Terrible. Maybe he got better but who knows, the SLO Family Court system is replete with corruption, top to bottom.
