I had the worst, most unprofessional experience of my life with this firm. I was late sending in payment for an excise tax bill of $70. A month later the check was returned saying that the amount that needed to now be paid was $92+ i.e $22 in penalties (seriously???). The notice carried NO DUE DATE. I sent in a check for the new amount – which was also returned to me a month later with another notice saying that the amount due is now $116+ – an additional $24 in penalties. Again NO DUE DATE. What the heck! Frustrated I called them and had the misfortune of speaking the the worst customer service person I’ve ever had to deal with. He was extremely rude, unprofessional, wouldnt listen to me and kept yelling at me that I was late with my payment. When I asked what my due date for payment is – he said there is No DUE date- but that I could be assessed further penalties if I didnt pay right away — that the only way to pay is online. When I paid online I was assessed another $3-4 as “convenience fee”. So basically i ended up paying $120 for a $70 excise bill that I was a couple of month late in paying. This is nothing short of gouging!!! This company is not only unprofessional ..they are crooks. I am shocked that despite the numerous negative reviews, MA continues to use these guys as Deputy Tax Collector. It is outrageous!!

Insane this company is allowed to rape tax paying citizens for the privilege of paying their bills/taxes/fees/fines online. Electronic transactions SAVE modern businesses money but stone age government allows it to cost us extra. I was both told I shouldn’t of made assumptions about how things worked and then immediately following told I should of assumed how things worked. They don’t care that their system doesn’t make sense, they just want you to feel stupid for not intuitively knowing it while they give you no options except to pay them now, or pay them more in 3 weeks. According to them there is NO dispute process even if you no longer own the car the excise tax is due on.

I was just sworn at and called ignorant by a man named Michael when I was trying to get very simple information as to why the Boston website said I owe an amount much greater than what Kelly & Ryan says I owe. I was very calm on the phone and very clearly asked if they could tell me why this was happening because I do not want the city to think that I owe them more money and cause bigger issues. I was met with many rude comments in addition to the answer to my question which was “i dont know to make me f***ing crazy”. Bad on me for forgetting to pay my bill but im asking a very simple question and if you dont have the answer you dont have to be rude, you can just say you dont know. When I asked for his name he would only give me his first name and so I asked to speak with a supervisor and he transferred me to his voicemail. The supervisors voicemail also only stated a last name.

By June 1st of 2015, I was charged $6 in late fees on my MA Excise tax, no big deal right? By June 1st of 2016, I was charged $150 in late fees for a $220 excise bill. That’s excessive. Plus, a pay online fee of 16.43. Takes two weeks to process a bill if you dont want to pay $16.
