I called to get legal advice pursuant to a landlord/tenant matter. The person who answered the phone, Maria sounded muffled which made it difficult to understand. She seemed frustrated & was extremely unprofessional. As the first person the caller speaks with it is paramount that the person displays good customer service, speaks clearly & leaves the frustration of the day at the door.

Although the Legal Aid Society doesn’t handle divorce, or marriage legal situations and usually aren’t the best to give advice in these particular situations, I have to give them 4 stars. As far as their representation in criminal court, I’ve seen some of their lawyers they have working for them not care about peoples cases, and thank God for the co defendants lawyers in some cases because some of them just don’t care. But I’ve seen others, and have had 2 experiences myself where i was appointment lawyers from the Legal Aid Society, free of charge, after two bogus arrested, where I was being unlawfully targeted and arrested, after having illegal items planted on me by the narcotics unit, I’ve had lawyers go above and beyond the fight the case. In one instance the NYPD representative didn’t show up to court, probably because he wasn’t interested in lying on the stand, and it was dismissed, and another situation where the lawyer went above and beyond to find out who this crooked, dirty detective was, and his name was Sposito, and she pulled his background and found that the city had paid over $750,000 of NYC citizens hard earned tax dollars on settlements in cases with Sposito as the arresting officer and the next thing you knew, they were offering me the sweetest plea deal I’ve ever heard of. They lose one star because of the extremely rude spanish lady behind the front desk… shes always filled with attitude the 2 times I saw her and one time she calls me on the phone arguing with me mistakening me for someone else… and insists that I called once already that day as if I was bothering her when I had only called once that one time we were already speaking…very poor work ethics lady especially for a legal aid office. I wouldn’t ever hire someone like that …if you dont like your job then quit….that simple.

Thomas White is a disgrace that works for this organization. After defending me in a recent case some questions were asked. Mr White scowleded myself and wife saying we need to get up and leave the court room. He said we can take up all of his time and the other 15 cases would not be heard. If the mans bed side manner is anything like his law skills I would have been in trouble had I choose to continue to allow him to represent me.

Was wrongfully arrested , detectives only spoke to one side and found me guilty ! Now locked up spoke to court attorney for one minute thru bars , was brought in front of judge not knowing all my charges now I have order of protection against me ruining my life and future career ! Lawyer did not speak to me after judge was told to leave now I have called her 4 times and left voicemails only not to hear fr9m court lawyer ! I thought they work for the people but apparently they don’t respond to their clients ! And detective asked me to write my side of what happened and she kept coming into the room are you finished are you finished distracting me ! Like I said detective found me guilty without talking to me !
