Our mission is to ensure that state and federal laws affecting poor people are upheld, while also addressing the systemic barriers to justice faced by Mainers with low incomes. To achieve our mission, we provide free civil legal assistance in cases where it can make a difference in one’s ability to meet one’s basic human needs or in enforcing one’s basic human rights, including access to housing, food, income, safety, education, and healthcare.

Can’t get anyone to talk about anything to me in person, forced to call a number where you wait in line then they hang up on you then you’re number 21 in line after that. I have never been lucky enough to reach anyone in the narrow 2.5 hour window they are open on the 3 random days they’re open.

This organization seems great on paper, but they are pretty useless. They are never available, the list of things they will help with gets shorter and shorter. It’s basically impossible to talk to a live person. You end up in circles on a “phone tree”, and after all that frustration, your issue ends up having to go to a useless website, and nobody ever gets back to you. Even to ask a simple question is too much for them, you end up on a website that will take your question, but they are more concerned with if you qualify. They want more financial info than the IRS. I should easily qualify, but can’t get any help whatsoever or even a return email or phone call. I know absolutely nobody helped by their services. Yet they always come up as a “resource”. It’s a cruel lie. The excuse is always “limited resources”. Since they don’t seem to really serve any purpose, I would think they should be defunded and allowed to close. It was next to impossible to get help from them a decade ago, now it really is. Don’t bother, but good luck if you do.

Pinetree has failed me my wife and are kids. They were supposed to help us keep are home. They misrepresented us. We went to court and we thought we were on our own no contact from them to let us know they were there for us. The man that was to be are lawyer didn’t show us any mind. Was disrespectful to my wife laughed in are face. Belittled us. Made fun of our home because it is a mobile home. Forced us to sind documents. That will make us loose everything. Never told us what the document said. We called to file a complaint with the head of pinetree. We were then told we have to go to the court and file for a dismissal. It is your job to fix this not the public you clame to represent. I will be contacting the board the attorney general. And if you don’t help and do your job I will file for missreprisentaion. Mental anguish. You have the prof in your office. How we were treated I better be contacted shortly or you will here form another lawyer.
