Our mission is to ensure that state and federal laws affecting poor people are upheld, while also addressing the systemic barriers to justice faced by Mainers with low incomes. To achieve our mission, we provide free civil legal assistance in cases where it can make a difference in one’s ability to meet one’s basic human needs or in enforcing one’s basic human rights, including access to housing, food, income, safety, education, and healthcare.

Whomever they have answering the phone they may want to replace. I have never had someone talk so rudely and short in my life. The courthouse and police both pointed me here, and she couldn’t even be bothered to point me in the right direction to deal with what I needed. I was told they weren’t an answering service and she couldn’t help me at all. Probably the rudest person I’ve talked on the phone with. You’re there to help people not belittle them and be rude.

The people that work at Pine Tree Legal are great but the phonebot, not so much. It’s lazy, repeats itself, doesn’t listen and will hang up on you. I am working with a COVID Eviction relief attorney (for eviction prevention) named Sarah Austin and she is great. She is patient and answers any questions I have and then waits a few extra seconds just to make sure I dont have any more, I’m not sure if she is aware she does this but it’s great. I had this as a draft while I emailed her and waited for a response, I expected a few days but she got back to me same day within hours not by email but PHONE I missed the call but I was shocked at how she seemed to know it would be better to call and speak to me rather than shove an email at my eyeballs and go about her day. I hope to never be in another eviction situation but if I am I will call PTL and if possible work with Sarah again. Great experience so far

Critical: Professionalism, ResponsivenessI have called these people many times and they don’t help me at all. It appears they only help who they want to help. You could have somebody hacking your phone, plotting to kill you and if they don’t like you, they won’t take your call unless it suits them.
