I know a father, a good father (whom I would trust to raise my own son if something ever happened to me) who hasn’t seen his twin sons in a year, in my opinion, because of the bias and dilatory tactics of Ms. Helms. Even though corporal punishment is legal in the state of Florida, she has prevented this father from seeing his sons because he spanked them. She equates a spanking with “a bar fight” and deems corporal punishment as “violence.“ As a parent, no matter what your opinion may be on the subject of corporal punishment, as a court-appointed guardian ad litem, Ms. Helms should be held to follow the law in Florida on this subject — which she apparently does not.
