So far they are getting 1 star from me. Called last week to get hours for both Lakewood and Tacoma ad I have a time sensitive matter I need help with. Was told Tacoma is closed the week of Sept 11th, but would be open for walk ins mon-thursday 1pm-3pm. Showed up today and they are still closed and also not sure if they will be open tomorrow. I need legal help asap and my tacoma resource is on their own time schedule.

I arrived at Tacoma probono seeking legal advice. The receptionist Alondra Hernandez was by far the nicest , knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help me out. Even when others were rude to her, she maintained a total professional image. You folks have a unicorn . A rare find in a totally professional employee.

So it’s actually a nice service for the community. Volunteers discuss what’s going on with you and send you helpful resources relating to your case for free. What I don’t understand is the intake process. You fill out a giant form online, then they ask you the exact same questions over the phone, like detailed personal questions that you have to answer “for demographic info” but they don’t have any reason to need, let alone twice, because they are literally not allowed to give legal advice. Unless you’re building a file against my landlord that you can send to help me, I don’t know why you need me to get their birth date before I can submit the form.

There is someone who works here that will remind you of your low income status as well as how Tacoma Pro Bono is one of your only options. Unprofessional. Try anyone else but them. If you are forced to accept their business. Politely decline to answer their demographic questions since you are just a statistic for them to acquire more funding

Very helpful. I’d suggest visiting the office instead of calling

They don’t return phone calls, don’t know if its an affect of the pandemic but for legal aid maybe you should sell blood for money

This service is very helpful, however don’t bother calling as it appears they get way too many calls so they just ignore. Just show up during open hours & you’ll get helped. Otherwise you’ll just get discouraged & frustrated.
