It took me several weeks to make an important decision to visit an attorney, this is a life changing event and I needed some guidance. Mr. Underwood may be a fine attorney but I’ll never find out. 1 hour before our appointment I received a call confirming my appointment. I had to take time off from my job to meet with him. I waited exactly 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment then left as Mr. Underwood was stuck in traffic. I drove 25 minutes through the city with no problems. If you are going through a divorce, I can’t emphasize enough how wise you would be to be represented by Mike Underwood and his law firm.I had an especially high conflict divorce with all kinds of property, financial and custody issues on the line. Mike was very involved from day 1 and kept me from getting off on the wrong foot. This is huge because each step of the divorce seems to build on what has happened previously. Mike is youthful but experienced and has the energy and mindset to stay on top of things throughout the process. Take my word, you don’t want an older, burned out divorce attorney who thinks he knows everything including what is good for you. Mike is not like that- he will give you all your options, along with his honest opinion of what you should do and what will most likely happen. In my case, he was right pretty much every time, which saves a lot of time, and money, as well as headache if not heartache. In the end, though nobody wins in a divorce, Mike helped me get everything I could have asked for given the situation, and I couldn’t imagine a divorce attorney doing a better job. Heed my advice if you in this unfortunate situation- retain Mike, work with him, and listen to him throughout your case. You’ll be happy you did when you come out the other side.Quick edit- I read some of the other reviews so let me add this: The law is the law and divorces are horrible and emotional. Don’t blame Mike if things don’t always go your way- they never always do, and you need to understand and accept that, especially regarding custody. Secondly, the courts are in downtown Syracuse and yes, sometimes Mike, like everyone, gets stuck in traffic or tied up in another matter. The courts and judges run the show, not the attorneys. Would you want your attorney to bail on you because he had another appointment? I doubt it, and Mike won’t. We had to reschedule a few things, I had to wait a couple of times for him, and one time he had to represent me, in a court meeting, via phone. Things happen because there are other divorces happening besides yours, but he is responsible about it, and in the end things work out the same. So even though it is hard, don’t let the emotional distress you are experiencing make you think Mike doesn’t care about your case.

Im writing this to inform anyone looking for a lawyer to take my experience into consideration. I retained Mr. Underwood in January of 2016 to deal with a QDRO and because his website says Fathers Rights Attorney to deal with issues with my children with me being a father. Well all I can say is Mr. Underwood seemed at first to be a concerned attorney with my issues being a priority. Things started to not progress for quite sometime. Communication was very little except for the monthly emails showing my balance and or what I owed. My bills were paid and I made sure money was in the account. Long story short is it’s almost 2 years later and I’m still no further than I was in January 2016, QDRO not finalized and still have not had any visitation with my children in fact I’ve lost what I did have for FATHERS RIGHTS. But the good news is I’m over $8000 less in my checking account. Not worth the $325-350 per hour. Not being bitter just giving facts.
