We found Phillip through Dave Ramsey and we didn’t like that we had to pay a consultation fee so it would have been a better experience for us to have a free consultation to ensure the CPA we choose is a good fit for us. However, due to the consultation fee, it forced us to choose him as our CPA which I get is exactly the point. I’m a small business owner so I get it. He’s experienced and deserves the right to charge for his experience and time. Who doesn’t wish they could find a cheaper option though right?

He actually saved me a ton of money, by researching the IRS rules that were helpful in selling my home with a rather large IRS lean. Nightmare to work with! If you don’t want your taxes filled in time this is your guy. He charged us $200 to type in our personal information, name date of birth, income that’s about it. Then said he rarely charges less that $400 for taxes to which I thought was expensive but wanted to get the taxes done and over with. He then proceeded to keep our document and said we would have to go back to finish the paper work. 3 weeks go by coming up the the deadline I call his office and his reception answers saying she just finished working on my taxes that he just needs to sign off on them. (So my taxes where done by a young college student) not Phill. I call phill back and he then says he has to file an extension because 3 weeks is not enough time to file 2 W2’s! We proceeded to cancel the service with him to which he refused to give us back any part of the $200 deposit. We picked up our paper work and that was it right, nope After looking to make sure we had our documents we found some one else’s w2 in our paper work.

I explained my situation to him three times and he didnt have it down on file. After this he never contacted me until after taxes were due saying that he had done my taxes on the first day I contacted him but that i would need to file my taxes late. He also didnt do what I had asked him to do and just went ahead and did everything incorrectly. Seriously huge waste of time trying to work with these guys, even got sassy replies by their secretary because she couldnt tell me the status of my taxes 4 weeks after i had initially talked with them. Heinous people and a huge waste of time.
