Deborah Varney was recommended to me by a leading Tempe law firm as a specialist in family law. I was very glad for the recommendation, and nothing in my subsequent dealings with her caused me to change my mind. My case was hardly traumatic, but it was extremely frustrating; what should have been very simply turned out to be quite complicated. The problem dated from my divorce some twenty-five years ago, during which my maiden name should have been formally returned to me as part of the decree. It was not, although I signed the decree using both my maiden and married names. Since then, I have always used my maiden name, and all my official documents are in that name, including my passport. But Social Security never recognized my reversion to my maiden name, despite repeated communications from me over the years. It was easy to ignore this situation, until I turned sixty-five, and Social Security refused to accept my enrollment in my maiden name. The process of convincing Social Security to change its records required a new birth certificate and a court appointment. The happy conclusion of this case must be attributed to Deborah Varney, who expedited the case with competence, efficiency, and good humor.

Deb Varney saved me! I was getting a divorce after being married for 27 years and didn’t really know what to do. I first hired another law firm that did absolutely nothing. They thought it would all work out, that the judge would proclaim what was to be.
