This service is fantastic, I have used it numerous times during the last 20 years and wish more people knew about it, especially those of modest means. I applaud the attorneys who offer consultations through the service and are willing to do so by phone. I am currently living in the upper Midwest and could not possibly have conducted my business in person. Ms. Williams was very knowledgeable in a very specific area of the law dealing with the State Department Foreign Service and I highly recommend her.

Highly recommend this service as an affordable way to get legal advice, even if you want to represent yourself. The service pairs you with a lawyer who works in the field you need. Make sure to be descriptive when you request a lawyer so the service can best place you with an experienced lawyer who can truly help! And be prepared when you meet with the lawyer so you can get the most out of your time 🙂

The VLRS was very helpful in connecting me with a lawyer in Virginia. My problem concerned the Virginia Taxation Department and I no longer live in Virginia, so I didn’t know who to contact. I was connected to an attorney in Virginia who was very helpful and gave me the information I needed. I would not hesitate to recommend this service to anyone needing a competent attorney in Virginia.

Called this morning to try to make an appointment and the lawyer was extremely impatient. He cut me off every time I tried to ask a question. First he chastised me for not making an appointment, and so I tried to tell him that’s what I was trying to do. He did answer some questions however, I felt rushed that I got off after 5 minutes. The consultation is supposed to last 30 minutes but I could not stand his impatience. I wish I had other options but unfortunately only received 1 recommendation. Will never recommend/use service again.

I’ve not hired a lawyer before. This is a good place to start. You can get direction and advice that can help in the decision making process of a legal matter.

After spending several hours trying to locate a lawyer that dealt with issues like mine, without success, I paid for a referral. The lawyer that I talked to was exactly the right guy, and made the details about my situation very clear. Worth it.

I paid Virginia Lawyer Referral Service the 35.00 referral fee and once I retained the attorney you referred to me, he withdrew “his” $1,500.00 VLRS referral fee you charged him from my retainer fee meaning I paid VLRS twice. Is this your standard procedure?

This service was very useful in helping me find an attorney who could assist me with a property dispute.

I had a lot of trepidation going into this because–with the exception of my divorce–I had never required the service of a lawyer, and I knew I couldn’t retain one. I just needed to really understand my situation and what to expect (unemployment hearing). As I had been turned down by every other free legal service in Northern Virginia (which is an entire other issue), the referral service was my last hope, and I’ll admit my spirits sank when I was on the phone with them. I was informed that NO lawyer in my area was taking on VEC cases because there were so many, but that there was one in Richmond. Fortunately, the woman I spoke with at VLRS answered every question I had, including all of my “how does this work?” inquiries with patience and kindness. I also had a wonderful consultation with a wonderful lawyer the following week.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueI had a great experience. Signing up and getting in touch with a great lawyer was easy. I then was able to ask all my questions and get help within 30 minutes. Now I’m equipped and ready to handle the issue. I probably don’t need to hire a lawyer but if I do, I know who to contact. I highly recommend this service if you don’t know where to start.I had a great experience. Signing up and getting in touch with a great lawyer was easy.
