My father did asylum a long time ago, back in the 90s, I didn’t know at the time. He found an attorney in Chinatown who said he qualified and could get a green card and a driver’s license. He didn’t know at the time that if his asylum was denied, which it ultimately was, he would get a deportation order, which is what happened. Over the years, he consulted with many attorneys. Everyone told him something different. Some said he can file a motion to reopen, which he did, and was defrauded again by another attorney. After years of searching and trying, I finally reached 21 and applied for him. But that attorney we hired failed because of just mere incompetence, didn’t have any experience dealing with people like my father, treated us like a lab rat, he gained experience from us but now we have a USCIS denial. Attorney Wang was my father’s fifth attorney. At first it was hard to meet with her. When I called, the receptionist would to tell me anything nor answer any of my questions, said I had to speak to the attorney because they are not the attorney so cannot give legal advice. I made an appointment to meet with her. When I came to her office, I had to answer a lot of questions and pay a consultation fee. I was getting annoyed but when I finally got to meet with her, I realized all that was worth it and even helped our conversation. Especially with my father’s complicated history, she was able to immediately tell me what we can do and how to get status. So straightforward and honest. Attorney Jean Wang really bonded with me. She was very patient in listening to the details of my father’s case. Unlike the other four attorneys that my father had, he said after they took his money they were hard to reach. But Attorney Wang was different, after we became her client, we could reach her at anytime, even at night because she has a 24-hour line for clients. One time when my father got a notice from USCIS but it was late, we called that line and she actually picked up herself. I was expecting a phone service but it was actually her. She was easy to reach and easy to speak to. After several months, my father got his green card. I have nothing but thanks to Attorney Wang.
