Critical: Professionalism, QualityCalled his office for information about commercial real estate law – I’m shopping around for (hopefully) the best attorney I can afford, but I was met with a bad attitude and absolute sarcasm. Apparently he was doing me favor by acknowledging my existence and talking to me, so he passed the call back to reception. I told them to forget about scheduling an appointment. I feel bad for those that have used the services of Douglas Lewis as well as those that work there if that’s how he is with everyone. Called his office for information about commercial real estate law – I’m shopping around for (hopefully) the best attorney I can afford, but I was met with a bad attitude and absolute sarcasm. Apparently he was doing me favor by acknowledging my existence and talking to me, so he passed the call back to reception. I told them to forget about scheduling an appointment. I feel bad for those that have used the services of Douglas Lewis as well as those that work there if that’s how he is with everyone. If you don’t need the business just say “The attorney is not seeking new cases at the moment,” that’s all.

Critical: Professionalism, ResponsivenessUnfortunately I did not have a good experience with Douglas Lewis. I felt completely un-prioritized, follow-up and follow-through seemed to be non-existent at times, I felt like I was treated like a bother whenever I would call the office, and since there was no follow-up, and I was constantly left with more questions than answers, I had no choice but to call… Ultimately it was a bad match and a pretty disastrous working relationship from start to finish. You really need to feel comfortable and have confidence in the attorney you hire or even consider hiring. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with Douglas Lewis. I felt completely un-prioritized, follow-up and follow-through seemed to be non-existent at times, I felt like I was treated like a bother whenever I would call the office, and since there was no follow-up, and I was constantly left with more questions than answers, I had no choice but to call… Ultimately it was a bad match and a pretty disastrous working relationship from start to finish. Stay away. I wish I had done my homework a little better when looking for an attorney from out of state. I hired Douglas Lewis and lived to regret it. No response to emails, no phone calls returned, no contact whatsoever. Didn’t even speak with my attorney until mediation which cost a pretty penny for him to sit and twiddle his thumbs. Having had exposure in a courtroom setting in the state of Florida for over 10 years, I have never witnessed anything such as this. Even the lowest paid public defenders and prosecutors have a better work ethic. What this firm does should be criminal, and how the Florida Bar has not intervened at this point is a tragedy. This firm is negligent and does not provide sound legal assistance. Douglas Lewis is inept and his support staff is even worse. Having had exposure in a courtroom setting in the state of Florida for over 10 years, I have never witnessed anything such as this. That’s about how I would describe working with Douglas Lewis of Thompson Lewis. But no amount of regret and kicking yourself about it can erase the past – at least that’s what I keep telling myself. I leave this feedback because I contacted Thompson Lewis Law Firm and Douglas Lewis about a complicated real estate case. I am from out of the state of Florida, but needed legal help. I am not sure if my accent bothered him, or the fact that I do come off a bit flamboyant sometimes, but I really felt like he had a problem with me.
